Hi! I'm Jody!

I have a work-hard, play-hard attitude… and thankfully photography lets me do both! Diverting from my corporate career almost 20 years ago to pursue my passion was one of the best decision (beyond my husband and kids) that I've ever made. I’ve taken my drive, professionalism and work ethic from my corporate life and applied it to my creative photography. My focus is to produce emotional images that tell your family’s story. Images that remind you of the little things. With my children now 19 and 17...and having lost a parent too early, I know that the little things really are the big things.

I got started in this business when I realized that photography provided the perfect medium to highlight a child’s unique qualities at a precise moment in time…starting with noticing these things in my own child. I realized that the essence of each child – whether they are shy or spirited or easily overstimulated or enjoy a good dance party – predicts the best approach for our photo session. I’ll read your child and adjust to ensure that we get great results. The best compliment that you can give me is that I have captured your child exactly as you see them.

My portfolio also includes commercial work for brands like Sportball, Lifestream Blood Bank, Alberta Children’s Hospital as well as many small and medium-size businesses. Combining my MBA specializing in Marketing with my art for storytelling, I have been able to bring to life business’s messages through the images.

Beyond my passion for photography, I have recently embraced a new role as a Professor, adding a significant milestone to my career. In 2023, I joined Riverside City College to teach the Business of Photography. This position has allowed me to guide and inspire other artists, helping them find sustainability and fulfillment in their art. It's been an immensely joyful and rewarding experience, one that I am excited to continue both through in-person and online teaching methods into 2024.

As for the “play hard” part of my life, I love traveling and adventuring with my family every chance we get! We stay extremely active hiking, biking, skiing, walking the dog, practicing and yoga. My most recent practice is learning to drive a motorcycle so I can eventually keep up my with husband!

I look forward to meeting you and your family and “Capturing the Art in Life”!
