Ways to Use Video for Marketing

 

Video can be used for a variety of purposes and should be as it will target different audiences on various platforms.

Social media:

·     Instagram

o  Up to a 60 sec video can be run on IG accounts. 

o  Video can be used as an introduction or teaser leading up to a launch of a new website, product, location,…

o  Instagram does offer paid advertising through sponsored ads if you would like to further the reach.

·     Facebook

o  Video can be posted on your FB account 

o  Clients have used videos for contest to expand their reach in the past – i.e. sharing the video will put your name in a draw to win… This is a great way to get in front of new clients and help be referred by existing clients.

o  Facebook does also offer paid advertising

·     Linkedin

o  If your target audience is more professional, a great way to reach them is through Linkedin

§ This could be posting the video directly to your account or sharing a blog post that makes it easier for others to share.

·     Youtube

Blog:

·     If you are already using a blog, this is a great way to share your video. This will also give you a direct link to your website so that people can find further information that they may require about your organization.

Email:

·     Directly email clients/target audience with the video can be very effective as this is an audience that you most likely already have a relationship with you.

·     Mailchimp offers a great way to send email and incorporate video into the body of the note.

·     Alternatively, you could link directly to a blog post

Mail:

·     You can always send a memory stick to companies if you have other information to send them, whether it is a product you want them to see or pamphlets that you want them to hand out regarding your services.

·     If you do not have the budget for memory sticks, you can always print a postcard outlining what you want people to do and link to either your blog or the Vimeo URL

Website:

·     Many clients have used the video directly embedded on their website – either in the header as you open the home page or as a window on the About page

 

 It is important to ask audiences on all platforms to share the video, as they will not necessarily think to do so.

 

Also, reuse the video and send out again…especially on social media platforms. People do not always see things the first time they go out.
